Fertility Preservation

It is a treatment that involves freezing the eggs to save them and use them later when you want to be a mother. These eggs can be kept frozen for years.

Procedure

  • Paso 1Ovarian stimulation

The woman receives hormonal medication for about 10 days to increase the production and maturation of the eggs.
  • Paso 2Follicular puncture and aspiration

When enough mature oocytes are observed, the ovulation is induced, and then a minimal procedure in the operating room is conducted under light sedation to extract the eggs through a technique guided by vaginal ultrasound. After this, woman can return to her normal activities in a few hours.
  • Paso 3Vitrification of eggs

Finally, after obtaining optimal eggs, they are frozen in liquid nitrogen at a temperature of -196 ºC. This process stops the aging of the eggs until the moment of fertilisation and the transfer to the uterus of the woman.

Who is this treatment indicated for?

  • Young women with no current desire to start a family.

  • Women with an ovarian problem that involves surgery such as endometriosis or ovarian cysts.

  • Women who are going to receive treatment with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or other medications or circumstances that could have an impact on her fertility.
